MY TAKE ON THE OLD AND THE NEW

As an artist, I am inspired by my surroundings, that is why I created GIBSON.
I found that since I was about 10 years old, I was always collecting things, it has never stopped. What Gibson is today is based on that early love of collecting. It is a very basic philosophy for me that any and everything collected has meaning for us. Be it a rock, a piece of wood, a table, chair, art. The thing it is how we put it together, or curated that is the art for me.

For me it never really needed to be something expensive or bought.
It was more about who gave it to me, where it came from and what it represented. As a native of Los Angeles, many came about from family road trips, camping trips, a hike, or just day to day life, and most were from nature. I also believe that things are to be seen and touched in person, that is why the brick and mortar format of a store or shop like Gibson is important.

Yes we all love the internet and its ability to source and buy things online, but it is important not lose the face to face interaction of things to the internet. It’s important to always to have the balance of both live interaction and technology with Design and Art for me.

I hope that you enjoy my posts from time to time for humor, visual stimulation, and to provoke thought.
